IPL Auction 2024: Revealing the Franchises' Search for Talent and Strategies

The IPL Auction 2024 is approaching, scheduled for December 19 in Dubai. The ten IPL teams are preparing to sign the best players they can afford, using a variety of tactics to entice elite players. Let's take a closer look at each team's strategies as they move through the auction

1. Chennai Super Kings (CSK): With a prize of ₹31.4 crores, the reigning champions, CSK, want to fill some significant holes in their roster. Given his recent heroics for India, they might think about bringing back star pacer Shardul Thakur in place of the seasoned Ambati Rayudu and replacing him with a middle-order batsman.

2. Gujarat Titans: After Hardik Pandya's return from the Mumbai Indians, Gujarat must overcome obstacles. With ₹38.15 crores in his pocket, Pandya plans to bolster the team by bringing in players like Ajaz Patel, Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur, and Daryl Mitchell.

3. Delhi Capitals: With a ₹28.95 crore budget, the Delhi Capitals want to solve major talent deficiencies, even though captain Rishabh Pant's recovery is still doubtful owing to injury. Players like Shardul Thakur, Jofra Archer, Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, and Priyank Panchal are being targeted by the team.

4. Rajasthan Royals: The Rajasthan Royals carry on their legacy of spotting and developing fresh potential. With a combined salary of ₹14.50 crores, the squad continues to prioritize players like Sameer Rizvi, Swastik Chikkara, Ashutosh Sharma, Abhimanyu Singh, and Saurabh Chauhan.

5. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): The team may consider replacing the gifted Harshal Patel with Australia's Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins in light of the decision to release him. With ₹23.25 crores at their disposal, RCB may add some energy to their batting and bowling lineup.

6. Sunrisers Hyderabad: Shardul Thakur and Harshal Patel are good possibilities for SRH given the dearth of Indian players in the starting lineup. With a purse of ₹34 crores, they can actively restructure the team by bringing in top-order batsmen and international fast bowlers.

  7. Mumbai Indians: Discussions have been triggered by the choice to name Hardik Pandya the captain rather than Rohit Sharma. With a budget of ₹17.75 crores, MI will carefully assemble their team. Darshan Misal, Manav Suthar, Ashutosh Sharma, and Wanindu Hasaranga are among the players being considered.

8. Punjab Kings: The team intends to make an offer for Shardul Thakur, Harshal Patel, and Rachin Ravindra with a purse of ₹29.10 crores. There are two abroad berths left for the club, so adding a top-order batsman and a talented foreign fast bowler is imperative.

  9. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): Looking for top-notch fast bowlers, KKR has the biggest purse at ₹32.70 crores. They are keeping an eye on players like Harshal Patel, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Rachin Ravindra. The team also requires an Indian finisher or all-round player.

10. Lucknow Super Giants: With South African talent like Nandre Burger and Dushmantha Chameera, Gerald Coetzee, and Mark Wood, LSJ is trying to sign another elite fast bowler. They have a purse of ₹13.15 crores and are also examining Indian uncapped batsmen.

Teams will compete fiercely for the top players to improve their squads for the upcoming season at the IPL Auction 2024.
